Many spray foam failures are the result of an improperly designed insulation system. In order for spray foam to be safe and effective, the proper chemical, equipment, application, and building science must all work together. Designing an effective and sustainable building envelope starts with a solid understanding of building science, which includes elements such as vapor drive, dew points, convection currents, heat transfer, code criteria, and even the chemistry of spray foam. Architects, builders and spray foam contractors often consult with AFT during the initial design phase to assess the thermal envelope conditions and select a suitable insulation system that is appropriate for budget and objectives.
